Avis L. Wilson, 72, of Battle Creek, died April 8, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born October 9, 1939, the daughter of William M. Burns and Avis Mae(Riopelle) McGee in Detroit, Michigan. Avis graduated from St. Philip Catholic School in 1958. She was a homemaker and also worked at Ratti Uniform Store as a sales manager for 13 years retiring in 1994. Avis is survived by her husband Stephen A. Wilson whom she married on May 14, 1994 in Fulton. She is also survived by her daughter, Lisa Bragagnini Whaley of Spring, Texas; son, Michael (Crystal) Bragagnini of Mattawan; step-son, Mark (Georgeann) Wilson of E. Leroy; step-son, Brad (Renee) Wilson of Pennfield, step-daughter, Cintry (Dan) Heinrich of Delton; brother, Bruce D. Burns of Spring, Texas; step-brother, Michael (Betty) McGee of Washoe Valley, Nevada; step-brother, Ronald (Marie) McGee of Adrian; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Woodrow McGee and brother William Burns. Avis enjoyed cooking, canning, reading, yard work; especially flower gardening, meeting monthly with her St. Philip classmates. But mostly, she loved nurturing her grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30- 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Shaw Funeral Home where funeral services will take place at 2:30 p.m. with Deacon Al Patrick, St. Philip Catholic Church, officiating. Private interment at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence (c/o Lifespan, 166 E. Goodale Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49017) or American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com
