The world lost a great man. My fondest memory of Bill was when we were at Congressman Upton's office and he finally got the metals our nation owed him for his service. He was so proud. I will try to locate the picture and get it to Mitch. Bill and I spent many hours on the deck at Summer Place Mooring drinking his home made wine, talking about his military service and what he had been through. He was truly an amassing man. Rest in peace my friend.

Love from Ken&Tryna Weiss & Chuey and Virginia Lum

To the Matthies family: I will always remember as a little girl the wonderful Christmas parties the whole family had together at grandmother's house and also at the VFW post. Uncle Bill was a steadfast strong brother for my mother, Virginia Lum. My mother loves all her siblings and family and she wishes that she could be up here in Michigan to be with them. Yorkville Community Church has lost a valued member of our church with Bill's passing. He joined our family in 2009 after his Commitment to Delores. The two of them grew old together in the most beautiful way. We loved to hear his war stories and how he told General Patten he was wrong. I know we only had him with us for a short part of his life but it was a wonderful part, he was so full of joy.
We will miss him

Steve & family:
I have fond memories of Bill during our years at the local Chevy dealer. I was very pleased to run into him at Meijer some years ago when I was visiting Kalamazoo and had my picture taken with him for 'old time sake'. I'll say a prayer tonight for his soul & your comfort.
Sympathetically,
Kim "Mac" MacKellar
