To Virgil's family,
I am sorry to hear of Virgil's passing and my thought are with your family. I played cello alongside Virgil in the Rockford Community Orchestra. His caring, gentle presence was greatly appreciated and is missed.

My sympathy to the family in Virgil Bartman passing. He not only was a great band director at Jenison High School for me. He also was a friend and fellow piano technician with my husband Richard Groot also a registered piano technician. Thanks for giving me the gift of music.

My condolences to the family. Less than a month ago Virgil was helping me with my piano. A patient, kind, and pleasant person to talk with. He will be greatly missed.

Virgil Bartman was our piano tuner at our homes in Holland, Saugatuck, and at our Bed & Breakfast in Saugatuck. It was always a delight to see him, appreciate his humor, professionalism and share stories of music and local history. Many, many musicians played our well tuned pianos. Always the gentleman, always great company, we are saddened to hear of his death.

Mr. Bartman was my band teacher during my years at Jenison High School. He was a kind and wonderful teacher. He was so talented with passion for music and led our band to winning state championships! Mr. Bartman was the greatest Band and Music teacher of all times. I have never forgotten him and never will. He was truly a blessing in my life. My thoughts and prayers for the Bartman Family! Debbie Wiles Darrah class of 1974!!

I was very saddened to hear of Virgil's death. He graced us with his presence and voice as he sang in our Edelweiss choir. He was a true gentleman ... a gentle giant. -- Louise Bauer

We are so saddened to hear of Virgil's passing. Not only did he tune our piano in recent memory, but he and I served together as solo/ensemble adjudicators at many MSBOA festivals over the years. I first met him in 1971 when working for the MSU Summer Marching Camps. Then and throughout his life, Virgil was a kind, thoughtful, and humane individual. We have lost a wonderful role model and inspiration to legions of instrumental music students.
