" This picture of John is perfect. Looking right at me, alert, full of kindness and all wrapped up in that wonderful smile. John is a special role model to so many on how to do a big job well, have fun and help people at every turn. After work while in tie and coat we stopped by the garden to pick peas for dinner. Naturally at ease because everybody is a friend. Blessed to have your friendship John, we miss and will remember you daily, yours Glenn Dorr"

"No one is larger in life than John Myaard. I first met John in late Oct 1986. He and partner Jim Schmitz had purchased a farm I had rented that year and Jim commented to be "sharp" when I first meet John. Well, it was later in the afternoon, pouring rain, when John and his best friend Del came screeching to a stop on our muddy gravel road where we working some cattle nearby and John bounced out of his Suburban soaking wet wanting to shake my hand for working his farm! To be quite honest I was taken back just abit. Then he is insistently inviting me to come to his place in Michigan to go fishing, that he had a small "shanty" I could stay in. So, the next summer after a few phone calls back and forth I landed at the lake house for the first time. The small "shanty" totally blew us away. That is when I realized that John Myaard could definitely back his talk! John and I talked regularly from Oct thru Dec (hunting season in Iowa) and again from June thru august (fishing season in Mich). John (33 years my senior) taught me about hard work and hard play. Every year John would come with friends but also every year he would land at my house at 7 am (6.5hrs drive) take me for breakfast, (when you were with John he made certain you ate very well) hunt ALL day, clean his birds, take very good care of his dogs and at dark turn around drive the 6.5 hrs back home and be at the first one at work very next day!!! Who does this? John has been one of the biggest influences of my life as I'm certain is true for everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. I am less without him now, but am certain I am a much better person for have having him part of me. My pain and sorrow is strong right now but that will change into excitement as I am running full speed to jump onto his train in the next world!! Thank you for all the exciting times John!!"
