Zeeland, Michigan | Age 92

William (Bill) Kahn, an eight-year resident of Zeeland, MI, died peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018, while under the care of the dedicated staff of Vista Springs and Hospice of Holland.

Bill was born on October 12, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Fred and Frances Kahn. After attending Schenley High School he served in the Army during World War II. His work career was with the U.S. Postal Service; he remained a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, for 85 years.

He is survived by his son, James J. Kahn of Castle Shannon, PA; daughters Lynn Kahn Parker of Merced, CA; and Leslie Dokianakis [Stelios] of Saugatuck, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine.

Bill loved being part of the lives of his four grandchildren: Nicole Parker of San Francisco, CA; Leslie Parker of San Diego, CA; Daniel Dye of Washington D.C.; and Elli Dokianakis of Saugatuck, MI.

He served in the Army during WWII and saw combat in Germany and France. When he came back from the war, he spent most of his career working at the U.S. Postal Service. Bill loved crossword puzzles, Reuben sandwiches, sitcoms, watched The Lawrence Welk Show every week, and bet on the occasional baseball game. He usually wore t-shirts of his favorite sports team (Penn State) and universities (George Washington, San Diego, Merced) giving him a reason to talk about sports or brag about his kids and grandkids!
Bill will be missed by his relatives and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and laughter.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
