Roger F. Seymour- 1934- 2018
Born September 3, 1934 in Battle Creek Michigan to Collin and Wilma Seymour. He is survived by his wife, Dee (Deloris) A. Seymour, daughters, Jayne M. Seymour, Prudon, Raleigh SC, Linda S. Joel, Milwaukee, WI, Amy H. Oesterreich, Crown Point, IN, and stepson, James A. Hoffmaster, St. Joseph, MO, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Roger was a very involved, caring and loving person who wrapped his arms around his family and community.

Roger retired from Kellogg Community College where he was a faculty member in the Engineering Dept. for over 27 years, retiring in 1995. As a faculty member he loved teaching and advising his students. He was advisor to the Tech Club and served on many committees including presidential and faculty search committees, the North Central evaluation committees and a variety of internal committees. Before coming to KCC he worked for Ralston Purina Company, Post Division /General Foods Corporation and the former Michigan Carton Co.

Roger graduated from Lakeview High School in 1952. He received a BS-IE from the University of Michigan in 1957 and an MBA from Western Michigan University in I969 with additional post-graduate studies at Penn State University, Purdue University, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Cornell University and the University of Texas.

As an active member of the community, he served as President of The Art Center of Battle Creek, Battle Creek Symphony Board of Directors, Battle Creek Engineers Club, Board of Directors and President of the American Society for Quality, President of the Michigan Safety Conference, receiving many commendations from state legislators and Governors. Other activities include; President of Washington Heights Community Ministries, President of the American Society of Industrial Engineers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the First Congregational Church of Battle Creek. He was an Observer for the Battle Creek Hot Air Balloon Championships for 15 years.

A memorial service is planned for 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First Congregational Church with Rev. Thomas J. Ott officiating. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to First Congregational Church, 104 Capital Ave. N.E., Battle Creek, MI or KCC Foundation for Engineering Technology Student Scholarships, 450 North Ave. Battle Creek.
