Mr. William J. Helveston died March 14, 2017 at the age of 86 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Michigan to Joseph and Isobel Helveston on February 23, 1931. At the age of 17, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on an aircraft carrier in Boca Chica Key, Florida and enjoyed many trips to Key West while on leave. After his four years in the Navy he returned to Michigan and earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University. Bill enjoyed and had a talent for sales. He had sales territories with ITT, Midwest and Fisher Abrasive. In 1970, he started his own business, HELCO, The Helveston Company. Bill's foundry snagging wheels kept the lines running in all the local foundries for 43 years. He was proud of his company's high level of service and on never having to shut a line down. He will be remembered for his spirit of adventure, a joke for every subject, his huge hands and feet, his love of good food and his ability to never let one day go by without having some fun. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife Patricia, his sister Jane Bobo, his daughters, Holly (Jeremy) Moog and Laurel (Brian) Wolf, his grandaughters Hannah, Emma, Alissa, Libby, Norah and Margaret. The family will observe his passing privately. Memorial contributions can be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission.
