Kathy Lee DeBruine, 56, of Climax, died October 24, 2011. She was born November 4, 1954, the daughter of George and Elva (Boshers) DeBruine in Battle Creek. Kathy graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in 1973 and worked as an office manager for various offices for the State Unemployment Commission. She worked in Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Battle Creek. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Kara DeBruine of Climax; brother, Michael (Dawn) DeBruine of Climax; sisters, Linda (Daniel) Penick of Athens and Brenda (Phillip) Farley of Athens and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kathy was known as "Mom" to many of her friends. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, reading and crossword puzzles and was a Detroit Tiger fan. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Shaw Funeral Home. Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at the funeral home, Pastor Jim Codde officiating. Memorial donations may go to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
