Lee "Leeroy" J. Taylor, 45, of Battle Creek died January 1, 2012. He was born July 6, 1966, the son of Floyd and Sharon (Kreider) Taylor in Battle Creek. Leeroy served his country in the U.S. Army. He then worked 17 years as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Battle Creek and for the last three years he owned L&L Cycle in Battle Creek. He is survived by his wife, Lynette "Lyn" (Coats) Taylor of Battle Creek; daughter, Jeannie Cronkhite of Battle Creek; son, Ryan (Allison) Coats of Charlotte; daughter, Caitlyn VanSickle of Bellevue; grandchildren, Talon Cronkhite, Kelsie Thomas, Kadin Thomas and Lane Coats; brothers, Pete (Sindy) Taylor, Scott (Natasha) Taylor and Rob Taylor, all of Battle Creek and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dale Coats. Most of all Leeroy loved spending time with his friends and family. His grandchildren were very special to him…he sponsored their sports teams and he loved teaching them to ride quads. He enjoyed riding his Harley, shooting pool and throwing darts. He was a member of Iron Coffins Motorcycle Club of Jackson and American Legion Rider Post 298. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4:00 p.m. and 6 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Shaw Funeral Home. Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the funeral home with Jay Howard officiating.
